SRH vs RCB IPL 2020 LIVE: Where will Virat Kohli play this season, No.1 or No.3
SRH vs RCB IPL 2020 LIVE

Virat Kohli is a natural leader. Donning the captains hat for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011, he has guided the team to two finals and playoffs. Alas, the team is yet to win its maiden IPL title. But with change of country, Kohli and men would hope the lady luck favours them this time. RCB will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday at Dubai International Stadium. With new additions to the team, the Bangalore side looks promising. But there is one teeny-tiny problem which remains unsolved. Who will open for Royal Challengers Bangalore this season? or let’s rephrase it, Which place will Virat Kohli play this season — no .1 or 3?

SRH vs RCB IPL 2020 : Virat Kohli to bat @ No.1 or No.3 ? Which will suit him the most?
Kohli is the highest run-getter in the IPL history amassing over five thousand runs in 177 matches. Throughout his IPL journey he has opened for the team on many occasions. However, it was in 2016 that it became a regular chore for him. But even though he moved up in the line-up, RCB continued to struggle in finding the right combination. They have tried Parthiv Patel, AB de Villiers amongst others as the No.2 but no one clicked. While Kohli continued to translate his form through the bat, his opening partners struggle to give him the needed support.
However, the story seems different this time. At the 2019 and 2020 auctions, RCB had hit all the right chords. They bought one of the most promising talents Devdutt Padikkal.
Born in Edapal, Kerala, Padikkal represents Karnataka in domestic cricket. The 20-year old bats in the top order and has previously impressed in the Karnataka Premier League. A product of the system, he has risen through the ranks; he represented India Under-19 and soon after earned a call-up to the Karnataka Ranji Trophy side. He made a stroke-filled 77 on his Ranji Trophy debut against Maharashtra in November 2018.
The Kerala-born might prove to be the solution to RCB’s opening pair conundrum. The youngster can open with Aaron Finch. It would enable Kohli to return to his natural No.3 position. However, Paddikal will have stiff competition from Parthiv Patel, RCB’s third-highest run-getter. Nonetheless, it will be a good headache for the team selectors.
SRH vs RCB IPL 2020 : How can Virat Kohli batting at No.3 help RCB?
With the skipper moving back to No.3 position, it will help RCB stabilize its top-order woes. Finch opening with either Patel or Paddikal, AB de Villiers can anchor coming at No.4. Gurkeerat Singh, an India international, who showed glimpses of his talent late last season will likely lead the middle order. It would enable Shivam Dube and Chris Morris taking the 6 and 7 positions. Yes, it is still an inexperienced middle-order but with the right mentorship, and Kohli’s aura can help the inexperienced side translate their talent for the team.
Predicted XI for Royals Challengers Bangalore VS Sunrisers Hyderabad
1 Aaron Finch, 2 Devdutt Padikkal/Parthiv Patel, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 AB de Villiers, 5 Gurkeerat Singh, 6 Shivam Dube 7 Chris Morris, 8 Washington Sundar/Shahbaz Ahmed, 9 Navdeep Saini, 10 Dale Steyn, 11 Yuzvendra Chahal
